We’re doing this to help inform voters before the municipal election on May 9th, 2016.

We are not candidates. We are not members of any town boards or committees and we are not employed by government at any level. We are not here to defend any personal record.

We are an ad hoc group of Rothesay Residents who believe that the outgoing Rothesay Council should be fairly held to account for their record over the last four years and that candidates for council that share our values, are given an opportunity to outline their ideas on these pages.

OneRothesay.com is our way of bringing a little more transparency to Rothesay Council’s record by highlighting the good, the bad and yes, the ugly, where it exists.

We also believe that Rothesay has seen more than its share of divisive politics. We believe this needs to change. Politicians who want to divide our town between old Rothesay and new Rothesay should get the message that we are ONE community.

We believe informed debate can only happen when voters have the facts, …all the facts. If we share a single bias at the start of this discussion, it is that we don’t believe that we’ve been as informed on spending decisions as we should have been. We hope you will share your experiences with us to fill in the blanks on Council’s record.

We welcome your comments. But, we reserve the right to publish only those comments that add constructively to our community and support our objective of respectful informed dialogue.

One thing we will probably all agree on is that we want ONE Rothesay that is a sustainable, affordable, and welcoming community.
